Sitting continuously throughout the day
can cause many harmful health conditions. Sitting all day can cause
back, neck and shoulder problems. It is recommended that you stand up
and walk around every 45 minutes throughout the work day. Not only will
this allow you to improve your health through increased mobility, it
will also burn a few extra calories throughout the day.

By standing, you can burn approximately
50% extra calories than sitting and performing the same tasks. By
standing and focusing on your health, you will also be less likely to
snack throughout the day. By focusing on standing and taking a short
walk every hour, I have found that you are less likely to eat unhealthy
foods. This may be an optimal start to losing weight.
What about sodas and low fat food?
It is true that people often get fooled
with the word diet while selecting a soda. Keep in mind that by drinking
one soda a day, you can actually gain 12 pounds a year. In addition to
the weight gain, sodas have a host of unhealthy ingredients, most
notably sugar. Drinking sodas on a regular basis can contribute to
weight gain, fat accumulation, and possibly chronic conditions including
type-two diabetes.
Similarly, low fat baked items, although
tasty, can raise insulin levels and contribute to weight gain. The key
is to reduce your carbohydrates and sugar intake in general and
scrutinize the type of food you eat. Focus on eating whole foods and
reducing processed foods, and most of the standard American diet
problems will be eliminated.
Substitute tea for soda
Green tea has immense health benefits including the following. A simple change is to substitute a nice hot or cold tea for soda.
Tea has less caffeine than coffee
Tea may reduce your risk of heart attack and stroke
Tea may help with weight loss
Tea may help protect your bones
Tea may keep your smile bright
Tea may boost the immune system
Tea may help battle cancer
It enhances the metabolic rate and reduces body fat accumulation.

Tips to stay focused
Place a small mirror on your desk and look in the mirror before eating anything unhealthy
Take a picture of everything you eat before you eat it, and then look at the picture before you eat it
Place healthy snacks at your desk – almonds, avocado, cheese or fruits and vegetables
It is important to remember that simple changes can make a dramatic difference in your overall health.
